Kenneth Walter Montis, age 101, of Mankato and formerly of St. Clair, died Sunday, February 4, 2007 at Oaklawn Health Care Center.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Clair with Rev. Daniel Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, St. Clair. Visitation will be one hour before service at church on Wednesday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth was born January 18, 1906 to John Walter and Julia Mae (Cook) Montis in Sheldon, IA. He was united in marriage to Nell F. Loppe on December 20, 1932 in Flandreau, SD, they were married for over 74 years. Kenneth held various occupations throughout his life. Kenneth enjoyed fishing, especially with his great-grandchildren.
Kenneth is survived his wife, Nell of Mankato; son, Kenneth (Shirley) Montis Jr. of Sedro Woolley, WA; two daughters, Artha Witt of North Mankato, Bonnie Cords of St. Clair; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren.
Kenneth was preceded in death by one sister; one brother; and a grandson.
