William M Olson

William Bill M. Olson, age 76 of Mankato, died Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at Immanuel " St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.

Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 2, 2007 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Mankato. Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo, WI at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Friday at the church. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Bill Olson was born March 30, 1930 to Arthur and Emma (Gluck) Olson in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. Bill served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1956. Bill was united in marriage on November 30, 1957 to Julianne Brabender in Menasha, Wisconsin. They moved to California where Bill worked for the Kaiser Steel Co. They moved to Des Moines, IA where Bill was employed with LOOK Magazine. He then was the Head of Housekeeping for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Bill then purchased an industrial supply company and renamed it Olson Distributing. He retired from the business in 1997.

Bill was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, the Lions, Elks, and Sons of Norway. His interests were bowling, hunting, fishing, playing bridge and fixing things in the household. Bill also had a good sense of humor that was enjoyed by family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Olson of Mankato; four children, Andrew (Michelle) Olson of Lakeville, MN, Amy (Tim) OHara of Bloomington, MN, Alicia (Lars) Evans of Stillwater, MN, Alan (Jody) Olson of Minnetonka, MN; nine grandchildren, Alex, Nick, Caitie, and Phillip Olson, Taryn OHara, Caroline and Rachel Evans, Olivia and Lauren Olson; one sister, Andrea Joss of LaCrosse, WI; nieces and nephews.
