Duane G. Hildebrandt, age 64, of North Mankato and a former long time resident of Mountain Lake, died Monday, January 29, 2007 at his home.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Mountain Lake Cemetery at a later date.

Duane was born June 15, 1942 to Emil and Lydia (Heffele) Hildebrandt in Mountain Lake. He graduated from Mountain Lake High School in 1960. Duane had been employed by Land OLakes in Mountain Lake for almost 20 years, he then farmed near Comfrey, managed the Caseys Store in Mountain Lake, and also worked at Swift Eckrich in St. James and AUI in Sleepy Eye. He graduated from South Central College with honors in Mechanical Drafting in 2001. He loved surfing the internet, cooking, playing cards, hunting, fishing, and Minnesota sports teams. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and was very devoted to his family, especially his 9 grandchildren, who will miss their Papa Dewey .

Duane is survived by his five children, Michael (Shayne) Hildebrandt of Mankato, Kurt (Teresa) Hildebrandt of St. Peter, Jennifer Hildebrandt (Bob Andrzejek) of West Lakeland, Jill Hildebrandt (Jade Staus) of Golden Valley, Gretchen Hildebrandt and special friend, Brian Cahalan of Woodbury; nine grandchildren, Amanda, Brittany, Miya, Nick, Gage, Noah, Kate, Shea, and Amelia; four sisters, Emma (Ben) Amann of Rochester, Margareta (Walter) Oeltjenbruns of Mountain Lake, Kathy (Elwood) Svalland of Butterfield, Carolyn Chester of Windom; sister-in-law, Yvonne Hildebrandt of Mountain Lake; brother-in-law, Wayne Hermanson of Owatonna; and many nieces and nephews and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Diana, Jean, and Dorothea, and one brother Leroy
