Evelyne E. Wirig age 84 of Madison Lake died Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake with Rev. Syl Brown officiating. Burial will be in Eagle Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Mankato Mortuary with a 4:00 p.m. rosary service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials are preferred to the Blue Earth County Humane Society or the ISJ Cardiac Building Fund.
Evelyne was born on August 19, 1922 in North Platte, NE to Elmer and Emma (Heck) Taylor. She was a graduate of North Platte High School, where she was the valedictorian of her class. On March 17, 1939, she was married to Gilbert L. Wirig in North Platte. They moved to the Madison Lake area in 1954 where they owned and operated Wirig Furniture and Memory Manor. Evelyne was a retail business owner all her life. She was passionate about cooking, and enjoyed needle work, decorating, and loved animals. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Evelyne is survived by a cousin, Norma Brink of Lubbock, TX; several nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Gilbert on January 18, 1990.
