James Franklyn Menton, age 67, of North Mankato died of lung cancer, Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at his home.
Memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2006 at Mankato Mortuary with Rev. Dean Wolf officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
James F. Menton was born March 9, 1939 to Glenn and Iva (Caswell) Menton in Mankato. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1957 and enjoyed and played football. Jim attended Mankato State University. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Jim was united in marriage to Susan Miller on June 26, 1965 in Mankato. She later died on October 29, 1998. Jim was united in marriage to Barbara Lohn on December 24, 1999. He was employed by Continental Can and Crown Cork & Seal before retiring in 2000. Jim volunteered with the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed camping, traveling, outdoors, gardening, and loved his dogs.
Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons James Menton of Albert Lea, Patrick Menton and his wife, Sundra of Salt Lake City, UT; granddaughter, Avrielle Menton; step-daughter, Rachel Lohn of Minneapolis; sister, Joni Daniels and husband, Frank of Sun Prairie, WI; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nell and Steve Meinhardt of North Mankato; nephew, Christopher Daniels of Sun Prairie, WI; niece, Tracy Crough and husband, Greg of Cleveland, OH; many extended family and friends; and his Thursday morning Bobby Joes Breakfast Group.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Susan; aunts and uncles.
