Evelyn Nelson, age 94 of Madelia and formerly of Lake Crystal, died Sunday, December 17, 2006 at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Butternut with Rev. Gene Alms officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Tuesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred to Our Saviours Lutheran Church.
Evelyn was born on October 16, 1912 to Edward and Mabel (Kabrud) Nelson in Butternut Township, Blue Earth County. She was employed by the Amboy and Lake Crystal Telephone Companies as a telephone operator and was later employed with the Mankato Citizens Telephone Company, retiring in 1975. She was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church and a former member of Zion Lutheran Church. Evelyn enjoyed crafts, baking, reading and taking care of her family.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Frances Nelson of Lake Crystal; one nephew, Gerald Nelson of Lenexa, KS; one niece, Judy Qualey of Middle River; extended family, Verone Nelson of Lake Crystal; many great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Burton and Alden (Justine) Nelson; and a nephew, Vernon Nelson.
