Sharon Kay Fisher, age 62, of Mankato, died Saturday, December 16, 2006 peacefully at her home following a courageous one year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrigs disease).
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Mankato with Rev. Pam Serdar officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 " 8 p.m., at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before the service on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to ALS the Minnesota Chapter, ISJ Hospice, or Centenary United Methodist Church.
Sharon Kay Fisher was born December 8, 1944 to Leon and Phyllis (McLain) in Pontiac, Michigan. She graduated from Pontiac High School in 1963 and attended Pontiac Business Institute. Sharon was united in marriage to Richard Fisher on June 11, 1966 in Pontiac, MI. She was employed by Wells Federal Bank in Wells, MN as an internal auditor for over 25 years. Sharon and Rick moved to Mankato in retirement four years ago. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Mankato, WISE investment club, and was a former member of the United Methodist Church of Wells. Sharon enjoyed shopping, walking, exercising, gardening, playing bridge, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Rick of Mankato; three sons, Bradley (Shari) of Andover, MN, Ryan (Kristine) of North Mankato and Dustin of Mankato; Four grandchildren, Payton, Samuel, Isaac, and Faith; three brothers, Kris (JoAnn) Verwey of Pensacola, FL, Kirk (Tina) Verwey of Ortonville, MI, Peter (Lisa) Verwey of Clarkston, MI; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
