Agnes Henrietta Christensen, age 93, of Apple Valley and formerly of North Mankato, died Friday, December 15, 2006, two months short of her 94th birthday, at Centennial House in Apple Valley.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2006 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mankato with Rev. Paul Meierding and Rev. John Petersen, officiating. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Thursday. Burial will be in St. Pauls Lutheran Cemetery, Ringsted, Iowa.
Agnes was born February 19, 1913 to Rasmus and Jennie (Thorsen) Madison in Ringsted, Iowa. She graduated from Ringsted High School in 1931 and then attended Dana College in Blair, Nebraska and Rasmussen School of Business in Minneapolis. On September 25, 1938 she was united in marriage to Russell V. Christensen in Ringsted. They moved to North Mankato where she lived her entire life. In 1999 she moved to Apple Valley. Agnes was a active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church for over 60 years and the church choir for 45 years. She was involved with PTO, Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital Auxillary, Fortnightly Club, Summit Center, Sons of Norway, and Bridge Club for 35 years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and traveling.
Agnes is survived by six children, James Christensen of Vichy, Mo, Richard Christensen of Lakeland, FL, Steven (Susan) Christensen of Scottsdale, AZ, Ann (Doug) Andersen of Apple Valley, Mark Christensen of Phoenix, AZ, Robert (Deborah) Christensen of Fort Collins, CO; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, David; two sisters, Ruby Lemke and Esther Petersen.
