James W Shouts

James W. Jim Shouts, age 84, of Mankato, died Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at his home in Chandler, AZ.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 11, 2006 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Mankato, with Rev. Dean Wolf officiating. Burial will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at Mankato Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

James Willard Shouts was born November 12, 1922 in Mankato. He was the son of Frank and Frieda (Wendt) Shouts. Jim attended Mankato schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941 and served during WWII. Jim was united in marriage to Virginia Gini Rickard on September 2, 1945 in Minneapolis. He was employed with Kato Engineering for 35 years. Jim was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Mankato Moose Lodge, American Legion, and United Brothers. He enjoyed times with his family and grandkids the most, and also card games with his family, watching his daughters softball games, dancing, and bowling. This year, Jim and Gini celebrated 61 years of marriage together. They spent their winters in Chandler, AZ and enjoyed their golf community and many friends. Jim was a loving, kind, and devoted husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He had a sense of humor all enjoyed.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Gini Shouts; four children, Jeanne (Ron) Domas of Mankato, Karen (Glenn) Birkemeyer of Mankato, Jerry (Cheri) Shouts of Delano and Deb (Perry) Rollings of Sartell; ten grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Domas, Brad Domas, Lisa (Michael) Bowers, Kristin Birkemeyer, Ryan Birkemeyer, Christopher Shouts, Carly Shouts, Stephanie Rollings, Haley Rollings, and Samuel Rollings; two great-grandchildren, Anthony Bowers and Julia Domas; one brother, Howard (Dorothy) Shouts of Bloomington; one sister, Evangeline Vangie Hens of Parkers Prairie; also nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Robert Shouts; one sister, Betty Oftedahl.
