Sister M. Rosella Kreuzer, School Sister of Notre Dame, died Sunday, December 3, 2006, at Good Counsel Convent, Mankato, Minnesota, at age 94.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, in Good Counsel Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Good Counsel, with Vespers in the chapel at 7:00 p.m. Visitation is also one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge.

Sister M. Rosella (Albertine Kreuzer) was born in Spokane, Washington, January 4, 1912, to Lukas and Rosa (Zumoberhaus) Kreuzer. She entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Mankato in 1928 and took First Vows in 1931. Her first assignment was SS. Peter & Paul School here in Mankato where she taught Kindergarten from 1931 to 1937. Then followed years of teaching primary grades in her native state of Washington where she spent a total of 35 years. For four of those years she served as head of the library reference department, Gonzaga University, Spokane. She earned a B.A. in English from Holy Names College, Spokane, and an M.A. in Library Science from Portland University, Portland, Oregon.

Using her library degree, she spent five years in Rome, Italy, where she served as reference and research librarian at the North American College, Vatican City, and at the SSND Generalate as documentation librarian. She worked at the Catholic Education Center in St. Paul for a number of years as media and curriculum librarian for the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis. At interim times, she was also college librarian at Good Counsel Motherhouse where she also set up the Liturgical Music Center. She spent a year as high school librarian at Notre Dame High School in Cresco, Iowa. In 1991, she retired at Good Counsel.

She is survived by several cousins in Switzerland. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Matilda and Cecilia Kreuzer, and her brothers John and Lucas Kreuzer.
