Marguerite M. Sexton Peterson, age 86 of Mankato, Minnesota passed away November 27, 2006.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Mankato with Father John Wilmot and Father Syl Brown officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be from 4"7 p.m. Thursday at Landkamer Johnson Boman Funeral Home with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service. Visitation continues one hour before services at the church on Friday. Memorials are preferred to St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, ISJ Hospice or donors choice.
Marguerite Mary Sexton was born October 30, 1920 on the family farm on Lake Elysian, near Janesville, Minnesota to Joseph and Myrtle (McCarthy) Sexton. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1938. She attended Mankato State University (then known as Mankato Teachers College) and graduated in 1942 with a B.S. degree. She then taught high school at Pemberton and Waseca. In later years, while raising her family, she was a substitute teacher at several Mankato Schools.
Marguerite married Charles Thomas Peterson September 9, 1946 at St. Anns Catholic Church in Janesville, Minnesota. They lived in Mankato their entire married life, where Charles practiced law with The McLean Peterson Law Firm.
She was a member of several Bridge Clubs, Catholic Daughters, The Symphony Guild and was a Charter Member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Marguerite was an avid reader and a woman of deep faith. She loved to travel and dearly enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by one son, John (Chuck) Peterson and his wife Helen of Madison Lake and four daughters: Mary Pat Fasnacht and her husband Richard of Madison Lake, Twin daughters Margaret (Peggy) Newell and her husband Thomas of Albert Lea and Kathleen (Kathy) Fostner and her husband Gary of Eden Prarie, and Ann Marie Johnson and her husband Dr. Bryan Johnson of North Mankato: Nine grandchildren " Charles and David Newell of Albert Lea, Ann Fasnacht of Shakopee and Tracy (Fasnacht) Huber of Mankato, Katie (Cline) Wieber of Eden Prairie, Carl Peterson of Mankato and Brent Peterson of Madison Lake, and Kelli and Ford Johnson of North Mankato. One brother John (Jack) Sexton and his wife Peggy of Socorro, New Mexico and a sister Patricia May and husband Gene of Mankato, also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles who died August 12, 2006.
