Willard C Pettersen

Willard Charles Pettersen, age 81, of Lake Crystal, died Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at the Madelia Community Hospital, Madelia.

Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 25, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal, with Rev. Nancy Dreier officiating. Burial will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.

Willard was born April 15, 1925 in Madelia to Kenneth and Elsie (Hoeft) Pettersen. On January 18, 1947, he was united in marriage to Alene G. Moon in Madelia. They made their home in the Lake Crystal area and raised two children, Dwight and Peggy. Willard was employed with Tony Downs, Farmers Feed Mill in Lake Crystal, Northrup King Seeds, Lake Crystal Municipal Liquor Store, and retired from Lake Crystal Coop. Willard was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed bowling, traveling, wood working, antiquing, furniture repair, and Sunday dinners with his family.

Willard is survived by his wife, Alene of Lake Crystal; son and his wife, Dwight and Kathy Pettersen of New Ulm; daughter and her husband, Peggy and Steve Helder of Lake Crystal; four grandchildren, Justin Pettersen and wife, Jamie, Jared Pettersen and special friend, Jessica Bruske, Chris Helder and wife, Connie, Kim Helder; two great-grandchildren, Bradly Helder and Jayden Pettersen; brother and his wife, Melvin and Cheryl Pettersen of rural Lake Crystal; sister-in-law, Avis Pettersen of Mankato, Ethel Pettersen of Madelia; an aunt, Mabel Finstrom of Lake Crystal; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Willard was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Lloyd, Robert, and Phillip Pettersen and his wife, Curline.
