John G Schulz

John Gordon Schulz age 72, of Mankato, died unexpectedly Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday at Mankato Mortuary with visitation from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Mankato Mortuary. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mankato Eagles #269 Cancer Fund, ISJ Heart Fund, or to an organization of the donors choice.

John was born December 25, 1933 in Mankato to Edward and Levitta (Gaffer) Schulz. He was a 1951 graduate of Mankato High School and attended Mankato Vo-Tech. On October 20, 1951, he was united in marriage to Audrey Reuskens in Mankato.

John was a sales representative for Sears, S&L, and Chip Steak. In the early 1970s, he started his own frozen food business and operated Johns Frozen Foods until he retired in 1989. During his retirement years, he worked at Young America Corporation for many years and for the past six years he was employed in the menu department at Carlson Craft.

John enjoyed hunting, playing games of chance, and good food. He was the Past President and Ten year Secretary of the Mankato Eagles Club 269. He was a lifetime member of the Kato Cycle Club, a former member of the Masons, and was presently serving on the Oxford Townhome Board.

John is survived by his wife, Audrey of 55 years; two sons and their wives, Mike and Terry Schulz of Osakis, Doug and Rhonda Schulz of North Mankato; seven grandchildren, Jessica (Chad) Mohr, Jeremy Schulz, Tony, Paul, and Tami Schulz, Brian Starkovich, and Tracy (Joe) Vaa; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Franks of Rockford; brother and his wife, Carl and Lorie Wendt of Lake Crystal; nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends, and TJ his cat.

John was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Jeffrey, sister-in-law, and three brothers-in-law.

He will be loved and missed.
