Richard B Shackel

Richard Bartholomew Shackel, age 97, of Mankato died Monday, November 6, 2006 at Immanuel " St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.

Graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 11, 2006 at Glen Oak Cemetery in Hillside, IL. Hursen Funeral Home in Hillside, IL handling arrangements. Mankato Mortuary in Mankato, MN handling local arrangements.

Richard was born on December 12, 1908 to Joseph and Clara (Turnbull) Shackel in Chicago, IL. Richard was employed by American Chain and Cable for many years working both in Chicago and in Michigan. Upon retiring Richard lived in California, Washington, Oregon and Arizona and Minnesota, where he has been living since 2002. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge in Illinois. He enjoyed ceramics, playing the stock market, and golf.

Richard is survived by a daughter, Barbara Sheridan and partner Doug Larsen of Flagstaff, AZ; grandchildren, Julie (David) Van Amber of Mankato, Bill (Erica) Carrothers of Commerce Township, MI, David Huxel of Dallas, TX, Steven, Thomas and Bob Huxel all of Flagstaff, AZ; seven great-grandchildren, Jenny, Ashley and Angela Huxel, Susan and Eric Van Amber, Alexander and Evan Carrothers; one sister, Evelyn Laughlin of Bensonville, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Raymond Shackel.
