Lydia L. Pautsch age 95, of Good Thunder, died Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at her home in rural Good Thunder.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, November 9, 2006 at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder, with Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer Jr., officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery in Good Thunder. Visitation will be held from 4 " 7 p.m., Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Thursday.

Lydia Louisa Lillie Hohenstein was born October 23, 1911 to Henry and Martha (Paap) Hohenstein at their rural farm home in Vernon Center Township in Blue Earth Co. and she was baptized five days later by Rev. Herman Reinhardt. She was confirmed on May 3, 1925 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Vernon Center by Rev. Paul Jank. Her memory verse was Isaiah 54:10 For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee . She attended the Oliver school district #147, Vernon Center High School and graduated from Bethany Lutheran High School in Mankato on June 4, 1929.

On September 14, 1940 she was married to William Pautsch by Rev. Ewald Lorenz at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Vernon Center. Besides being a homemaker she was a farmers aide. Her other accomplishments were: long time Sunday school teacher, church organist for both English and German services, Ladies Aid officer, telephone operator, member of a Home Extension group, writer of three family history books, maker of quilts for World Relief. In the winter of 1951 she gathered the material and made the first Cradle Roll for St. John Lutheran Church and served as its secretary for the first 10 years.

Lydia is survived by two daughters, Renee Mathiason of St. Clair, Marilyn (David) Mathiason of Mankato; one son, Arvid (Jodi) Pautsch of rural Good Thunder; five grandchildren, Sam (Ellen) Mathiason of Monroe, WI, Michelle Mathiason and her special friend, Derek Moore of LaCresent, MN, Rev. Chris (Rev. Erin Bovendam) Mathiason of McAlisterville, PA, Matt Mathiason of Antarctica, Theodore Pautsch of Good Thunder; step-grandson, Ed (Teri) Fredrick of Annandale; three great-grandchildren, Sydney, Grace, and Ryan Mathiason; two step-great-grandchildren, Jessica and Abigail; brother, Delphin (Carol) Hohenstein of Garden City; four sisters-in-law, Emma Hohenstein, Deloris Hohenstein, Viola Pautsch, and Lorraine Mueller all of Mankato, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, Edna and Viola; two brothers, Maynard and Norbert; and son-in-law, Doug Mathiason.
