Harriet A. Stavenau, age 84, of Rapidan Township, died Saturday, October 28, 2006 at Immanuel St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at St. John Lutheran Church in Rapidan, with Rev. Monte Meyer officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Rapidan. Memorials may be given to ISJ Hospice, VINE, or St. John Lutheran Church.

Harriet was born on April 15, 1922 in Rapidan Township, Blue Earth County, MN. She was the daughter of Grover and Alvina (Heitner) Kunkel. Harriet was a graduate of Rapidan High School. She was united in marriage to Alonzo H. Stavenau on June 29, 1947 in Rapidan. Harriet was a homemaker and also assisted Alonzo with their farm. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Rapidan, where she had participated in the Lutheran Womens Missionary League and the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, embroidery, and raising farm animals.

Harriet is survived by her two sons, David (Gwen) Stavenau of Rapidan Township and James (Roxanne) Stavenau of Kansas City, MO; three granddaughters, Shalan (Chris) Stroud of Blue Springs, MO, and Kelsey and Melanie Stavenau of Rapidan Township; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alonzo in 2003; and one brother, Raymond Kunkel.
