David Swedberg age 71 of Mankato died Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at Hillcrest Health Care Center.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal with Rev. Randal Lubbers officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Memorials are preferred to the American Lung Association, Salvation Army, or to an organization of the donors choice.
David was born July 4, 1935 in Lake Crystal to David and Freida (Toenges) Swedberg. He married Virginia Wrightson on November 24, 1956 at the First Methodist Church in Lake Crystal. He entered the US Army on May 13, 1958 and was honorably discharged on May 12, 1960 at Fort Carson, Colorado. David was a meat cutter and meat salesman for various companies in Stillwater and the Twin City area. He was the owner and operator of Swedes Meat Market in St. Peter from 1974-1980. David was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed garage sales, auctions, playing cards and family get togethers.
Survivors include his loving wife, Virginia Swedberg of Mankato; sister, Lois Willaert of Mankato; four brothers, Don (Dorothy) Swedberg of Lake Crystal, Clarence (Edith) Swedberg of Madison, WI, Merlyn (Marie) Swedberg of Mankato, Steve (Janice) Swedberg of Bridgeport, NE; sister-in-law, Barbara Wrightson of Trimont; brother-in-law, Duane (Sharon) Wrightson of Rolling Prairie, IN; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Daivd was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Henry Kluver; sister, Elizabeth Rollings; brother, Ronald Swedberg; and a stepsister, Rosetta Guest.
