Mary Louise Schmidt, age 79, of Mankato died Thursday, October 19, 2006 at Hennepin County Medical Center due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 24 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, with Father John Wilmot officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Monday at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to donors choice.
Mary was born on June 21, 1927 to Frank and Mamie (Raboin) Felber in Cass Lake, MN. She attended local schools and was a 1945 graduate of Wells High School. Mary married Leonard Schmidt on February 16, 1971 in St. Peter MN. She was employed by Bretts department store for many years. She was also a homemaker who took great joy in caring for her family, and worked for Associated Engineering until her retirement in 1988. Mary was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and the YMCA. She enjoyed flowers, shopping, cooking, baking, dogs, traveling and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her children Mark Thisius of Garrison, Karen (Louis) Cianni of Chisholm, and Dale (Terri) Thisius of Edina; stepchildren: Kathy (Paul) Geronime of LaCrescent, Dianna Leiferman (Mark Wesely) of Mankato, Karen (Bruce) Frandle of Owatonna, Patty (Joseph) Ahl and Brenda (Mike) Schmidt all of Mankato; 19 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 2 sisters Marcella Bierman of North Mankato and Marguerite Akerson of Sauk Rapids. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard, two grandchildren, 5 brothers and one sister.
