Linus Zastrow

Linus W. Zastrow, age 81, of Amboy, died Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the Mapleton Community Home.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Amboy with Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer Jr., officiating. Burial will be in Barnard Valley View Cemetery, Good Thunder. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday (TODAY) at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Tuesday.

Linus was born February 15, 1925 to William and Anna (Briesemeister) Zastrow in Camden Township, Carver County, MN. He graduated from Waconia High School in 1943 and attended Iowa State University and the University of Minnesota. He was united in marriage to Lillian Thiesfeld on May 20, 1947 at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe. Linus worked for 25 years as a Steamfitter for Local 561 of Mankato working for various companies until retiring in 1983. They lived in Good Thunder for 40 years and after retirement moved to rural Amboy by the river. They raised fruits and vegetables that they sold at the Farmers Market in Mankato and Blue Earth. Linus enjoyed planting fruit trees, welding, playing cards, and the wildlife at their home on the river.

Linus is survived by his wife, Lillian; five children, Barbara (Ron) Kaul of Good Thunder, Beverly Gosewisch of Lees Summit, MO, Bonita Steppa of St. Paul, Bruce (Julie) Zastrow of Easton, Beatrice (Joe) Caven of Garden City; eleven grandchildren, Nikki Kaul, Christin Kaul, Brian (Kelley) Gosewisch, Skye Gosewisch, Guy Zastrow and fianc, Lis Murphey, Yahna Zastrow, Micah Zastrow, Claire Zastrow, David Caven, Bill Caven, Lisa Caven; four great-grandchildren, Chance, Cade, Gage, and Lane Gosewisch; brother, Wilbert Zastrow of Mayer; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Leona (Melford) Schwarzrock, Albert Thiesfeld, Leatrice (Norman) Schwich, Anita Thiesfeld; many nieces and nephews.

Linus was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Steve Gosewisch; great-grandson, Hunter Gosewisch; two sisters, Alpha Burdorf, Helen Pawelk.
