Pearl Alberta Preis, age 97, of Mankato, died Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Hillcrest Health Care Center.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 30, 2009 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rapidan, with Vicar Robert Lund officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Rapidan. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Pearl was born on May 26, 1911 to Arthur and Clara (Bertelsen) Blume in Rapidan Township. She was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapidan, where she would later be united in marriage to Clarence H. Preis on September 8, 1931. Pearl was a housewife whose hobbies included quilting, crocheting, and embroidery. She loved gardening and always had a big garden and many flowers. Pearl also enjoyed playing the organ, and as a girl she played the piano along with her father, an old time fiddler, at house parties in their neighborhood.
Pearl is survived by her two daughters, Helen (Wayne) Boese of Morristown and Lorene (Paul) Mann of St. Peter; one son, Verne (Judy) Preis of Good Thunder; eight grandchildren, Bonnie (Ken) Judd of Owatonna, Brenda (Rick) Kreuger of Big River, Keith (Nancy) Boese, Kenneth (Jackie) Boese, and Kip Boese, all of Morristown, Connie (Les) Giles of St. Peter, John (Melissa) Voigt of St. Peter, and Mitchell (Margaret) Preis of Good Thunder; granddaughter-in-law, Tammy Boese of Owatonna; twenty great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence in 1993; son, Eldon in 1961; two grandchildren, Becky Boese and Karl Boese; two brothers, Clifford and Clarence; and a sister, Gladys Ahl.
