Robert "Mick" McGuire, age 87, of Mankato, died on Sunday, January 18, 2009 at Oaklawn Health Care Center.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, January 22 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. John Kunz officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:30-11:00 prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery with military honors. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Mick was born on November 10, 1921 in Mankato to Frank and Philda (Klugherz) McGuire. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1938. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. On December 17, 1946 Mick was united in marriage to Lorraine Blocker in St. Peter. He was a Mankato Fireman for 36 years. Mick enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing cards. He was an avid sports fan who loved football and baseball. He was a member of American Legion Post 11 and the Last Mans Club.
Mick is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children: Janice (Jerry) Terrell, Kevin (Debby) McGuire, Mary (Buck) Mason, Bob (Robin) McGuire, Laurie (Dave) Schuh, and Kelly McGuire; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Erv Blocker. He was preceded in death by his parents.
