Dorothy Mae (Madigan) Radichel, age 87, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2009 at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 8, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. Visitation will be from 4 " 7 p.m., Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary. Private family burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Mankato.
Dorothy was born on July 3, 1921 in Long Prairie, MN to Charles and Grace (Baker) Madigan. She graduated from Mankato High School and Mankato Commercial College. Dorothy worked as a secretary at Continental Can Co. and a law firm before marrying Paul W. Radichel on February 17, 1945 at Paul's family home in Mankato.
Dorothy was always active with her family and pursued her other interests too. She was a fantastic cook/baker, always making great family meals and enjoyed entertaining friends. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, the Red Cross and both Mankato hospitals. She was a long time member of the Portfolio Club, enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, was an avid reader, bowled in a league for many years, liked dancing and played on the Orange Crush softball team.
Paul and Dorothy traveled with favorite destinations being their vacation home in Naples, FL and Peter Island, BVI, where the family spent many memorable trips together sailing. They enjoyed summers at their home on Lake Washington.
Dorothy always had a grace and peacefulness about her but was also a strong Irish woman. She was a great wife and mother, a good friend to so many, always ready to help people and was passionate about her volunteer work. Her life has been a wonderful example to her children and she will be missed so very much.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Paul; four children, Deanna Radichel Thompson of Eden Prairie, Margaret Radichel (Jeff) Molde of Edina, Kathleen (Tweet) Radichel (Larry) Hoffrogge of Mankato, Bill (Amy) Radichel of Apple Valley; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Madigan Mulvehill and Carol Madigan Gruber.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Melvin and Willard Madigan.
