Marie O Cooper

Marie O. Cooper, age 94 of Mankato and formerly of Vernon Center, died Thursday, December 25, 2008 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.

Funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Vernon Center with Rev. Vance R. Milbrath officiating. Burial will be in Vernon Center Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Monday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Marie was born September 7, 1914 in Vernon Center to Harry and Clara (Pahl) McMonagle. She attended local school and graduated from Bethany College. She was united in marriage to Donald Cooper on January 11, 1940. She was employed by the Vernon Center Post Office working in all capacities until her retirement in 1972. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was a member of the Ladies Aid. Marie had many hobbies and always enjoyed life.

She is survived by her son, James (Carol) Cooper of Farmington; four grandchildren, Tony, Holli, James Jr., and Connie; great-grandchildren; sister, Luella (Lyle) Roberts of Mankato; brother, Gene (Helen) McMonagle of Madelia; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 1977; son and daughter-in-law, David and Dianne Cooper; brothers, Ralph McMonagle, and Jodie McMonagle; sister, Barbara Peterson.
