Gladys Georgia Roberts, age 91, of Garden City, died Monday, December 22, 2008 at her home.
Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 27, 2008, at the Garden City Christian Church. Burial will be in Garden City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before service at church on Saturday. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Gladys was born January 1, 1917 to George and Meta (Buck) LaFavor in Mankato. She graduated from Garden City High School in 1935. Gladys was united in marriage to Russell Roberts on June 23, 1944. She was a member of the Garden City Christian Church and was past president, vice president, and secretary of its Christian Women's Fellowship. Gladys volunteered at the Salvation Army for many years and enjoyed gardening, sewing, and watching baseball.
Gladys is survived by three children, Lori Miklavcic and husband, Edward of Libertyville, IL, Gary Roberts of Garden City, John Roberts and wife, Jan of Faribault; three grandchildren, Chris and Chip Miklavcic, Jimmy Roberts; brother, Lyle (Marion) LaFavor of Mankato; sister, Myrtle Nelson of Hatfield, PA; two sisters-in-law, Kay LaFavor of Lake Crystal, Dolores LaFavor of Charlotte, NC; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell on November 17, 1986; sister, Doris Larson; four brothers, Stanley, Gordon, Merton, and George.
