Robert Ernest Dowlin, age 67, of Canon City, CO, and formerly of Mankato, MN, died Thursday, October 5, 2006 at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, CO.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 9, 2006 at Mankato Mortuary, with Rev. Jon Marburger officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Robert was born on June 5, 1939 in Mankato. He attended school in Lake Crystal until the 10th grade and graduated in 1957 from Mankato High School. He received his BA and MA from Mankato State College. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Germany after he attended language school. Robert later worked as a civil service investigator in Las Vegas and then worked as a real estate appraiser in Sterling and Jefferson Counties, retiring in 2001 to Canon City, CO. He was an avid reader and loved music.
Robert is survived by his brother, Bruce (Sheryl) Dowlin of Boise, Idaho and formerly of Mankato; sister, Trudy Dowlin of Sterling, CO; aunts, Doris and Ardis Ronne both of Mankato; uncle, Jesse (Helen) Ronne of Grand Meadow; niece, Johnette (Tony) Amado of Minneapolis; nephew, Bruce Dowlin Young of Whiteville, TN; and great-nephews, Alex and Mitchell Keobounpheng.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Okal C. Dowlin and Clarabelle Pischner; step father, Lester Pischner; grandparents, George and Addie Ronne; uncles, Gene (Clara) Ronne, Floyd (Grace) Ronne; and aunt, Ella (Louie) Johnson, who raised Robert through high school.
