Kenneth William Hoehn, age 81, of Mankato, formerly of Madison Lake, died Monday, October 2, 2006 at Immanuel St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2006 at All Saints Catholic Church, Madison Lake with Rev. Robert Schneider officiating. Burial with military honors will be in All Saints Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Mortuary with a 3:45 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue from 9:30-11 a.m. at the church on Friday.
Kenneth was born on April 18, 1925 in Mankato to Louis and Mary (Blaha) Hoehn. He attended school at All Saints in Madison Lake and Mankato High School. He was united in marriage to Marian Fox on August 30, 1944 at St. Marys Catholic Church in rural Waseca. He entered the U.S. Army in September 1944 and was stationed at Camp Walters in Fort Worth, Texas, before being sent to Germany with the 3rd Mortar Battalion to serve in WWII Battle of the Bulge. He was discharged in May of 1946 and worked five years for his father at the Madison Lake Hatchery before working in the electrical trade until retirement. He was part owner of the H & R Car Wash in Mankato for 20 years and the Creamery Car Wash in Madison Lake for 10 years. Ken was a lifelong resident of Madison Lake until 2004.
He was a member of the IBEW for 55 years and also the American Legion Post 269 for over 50 years. He enjoyed traveling, summers at Cross Lake, MN, sailing, playing cards and friends. Most of all he enjoyed his family, whom he loved dearly. He was a world class family man to not only his family, but many others as well. He had a wonderful sense of humor and optimistic outlook of life which he carried with him all the years despite his many health issues. Ken will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marian Hoehn of Mankato; 7 children, Karen (Duane) Fischer of Waterville, Jerry (Nancy) Hoehn of Waterville, Julie Kroubetz of London, England, Larry (Shelley) Hoehn of Mankato, Laurie (Tim) Thro of North Mankato, Randy (Dawn) Hoehn of North Mankato, Chris (Sheila) Hoehn of Mantorville; 17 grandchildren, Dawn (Mike) Johnson of Titusville, FL, Damon (Andrea) Fischer of Eden Prairie, Jeremy Hoehn of Eden Prairie, Heather Johnson of Mankato, Shannon (John) Jimenez of London, England, Kimberly (Mark) Johnson of Madelia, Michelle (Mark) Jensen of Prior Lake, Jason (Amy) Hoehn of Mankato, Alek Thro of Tinker Air Force Base, OK, Jenna Thro of Minneapolis, Chelsey, Justin and Logan Hoehn of North Mankato, Rhen Hoehn of Houghton, MI, Danielle Hoehn of South Bend, IN, Isaac and Andre Hoehn of Mantorville; 16 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; brothers, Don (Benna) Hoehn of Winter Park, FL, Alfred (Shirley) Hoehn of Faribault, Jack (Delores) Hoehn of Madison Lake, and Dick (Alice) Hoehn of Madison Lake; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Delores Fox and her husband Kenneth; and one step-grandchild, Nicholas Johnson.
