Ralph H Hood

Ralph H. Hood, age 85, of Lake Crystal died Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at Hillcrest Health Care Center, Mankato.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2006 at Cambria Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Penny Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Cambria Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Friday.

Ralph was born February 17, 1921 to George and Deborah (Davis) Hood in Butternut Township, Blue Earth County. He attended Cambria School District 78. Ralph served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Africa. He was united in marriage to Elaine Thomas on June 1, 1949 in Lake Crystal. Ralph farmed for many years. He was later employed by various construction companies before working for Lundin Construction and retiring after 27 years. Ralph was a member of the Cambria American Legion. He enjoyed local history and family genealogy and collecting antique farm machinery.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Elaine of Lake Crystal; three children, Sylvian Steffensmeier and husband, Loren of Nicollet, Tom Hood and wife, Lori of Lake Crystal, Robin Freyberg and husband, James of Mankato; six grandchildren, Ryan, Jacob, Eric, and Kelsey Hood, Julia and Kathryn Freyberg; brother, Verne Hood and wife, Donna of New Ulm; two nephews; three nieces.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.
