Sophia Ekstrom

Sophia Catherine Erin Ekstrom, age 4, of Eagle Lake, died Monday, September 18, 2006 at St. Peter Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 22, 2006 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato, with Rev. Richard Colletti officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and also one hour prior to the service on Friday. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Sophia, affectionately known as KiKa Belle , was born on June 17, 2002 in Mankato. She was the daughter of Douglas and Nichole Heidl-Ekstrom. Sophia was a Little MACS Preschool shining star last year. She attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with her family. Sophia enjoyed dancing, reading books, watching movies, spending time with her big sisser , snuggling in bed with Mama, being bossy , learning sign language, and talking to Dada on the phone. Her favorite words were no and all done .

Sophia is survived by her parents, Douglas and Nichole Ekstrom of Eagle Lake; one sister, Madelin Ekstrom of Eagle Lake; maternal grandparents, Dan and Yvonne Heidl of St. James; paternal grandparents, Eldon and Ruby Ekstrom of Butterfield; great-grandmother, Irene Heidl of Sandusky, OH; also many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
