David Harold Wilson, age 71, of North Mankato died Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at his home.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 9, 2006 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Paul Lauer officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Saturday. Memorials are preferred to Our Saviors Lutheran Church or Immanuel St. Josephs Hospice.
Dave was born on January 1, 1935 to Benjamin and Gina (Christenson) Wilson in Mankato. He served his country in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserve. He was united in marriage to Berneice Winter on December 7, 1957 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Mankato. During the 1950s and 60s David worked as a mechanic at various car dealerships. He then worked as a self employed house painter and interior decorator until his health forced him to retire. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, where he served as an Elder and Trustee, Mens Club, a member of the Eagle Lake American Legion and the North Mankato Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed camping, bowling, vacationing in Texas during the winter, having coffee with friends, and greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Dave is survived by his wife, Berneice Wilson of North Mankato; three children, Steve (Bonnie) Wilson of Sherburn, Cathy Janssen of Mankato, and Rich (Katie) Wilson of North Mankato; six grandchildren, Erin Janssen, Jessica Wilson, Zach Janssen, Thomas Wilson, Levi Janssen, and Katelyn Wilson; one great-grandchild, Timothy Janssen; two sisters, Rosella Volk and Doris Origas both of Mankato; three sisters-in-law, Mattie Ferguson of Cleveland, Alice Wilson of Mankato, and Vera Wilson of New Richland; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
David was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Barbara and Lillian; six brothers, Daniel, Lloyd, Kenneth, Lawrence, Clarence, and Robert.
