Grace W. Rupp, age 85, formerly of the Chisholm and Hibbing area and Sun City West, AZ, died Thursday, August 17, 2006 at Lake Shore Inn Nursing Home in Waseca.
Memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 3, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Chisholm. Memorials are preferred to the ISJ Hospice program.
Grace was born May 12, 1921 in Butte, Montana to Chancey and Florence (Knutti) Miller. Grace graduated from Hibbing High School and Hibbing Junior College. She worked at Lippmans Department Store in Hibbing, where she started and managed the Teen Department and later worked for the FBI. On March 29, 1945, she was united in marriage to Clarence W. Rupp in San Diego, California. They returned to Minnesota and made their home in Chisholm, where they raised three children, William, Constance, and Gail. In 1989, Grace and Clarence moved to Sun City West, Arizona. Clarence died on June 16, 2003. In 2004, Grace returned to Minnesota to be near her family.
Grace had served on the Hibbing-Chisholm Hospital Board and had been very active in the Education Program in Chisholm. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Chisholm and Shepherd of the Hills Methodist Church in Sun City West, Arizona. Grace enjoyed knitting, cooking, baking, and traveling.
Survivors include her three children, Dr. William C. Rupp and his wife, Dr. Janice Clarke of Madison Lake, Constance Goslar and her husband, John of Owatonna, Gail Sorenson and her husband, Charles of Chisholm; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one anticipated great-grandchild; nieces and nephews. Grace was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Robert; and a niece and a nephew.
