Jeanette Thorn

Jeanette P. Thorn, age 91 of Mankato died Thursday, August 24, 2006 at the Mankato Lutheran Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 28, 2006 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato with Mary Miske officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 57 p.m., Sunday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at the church on Monday. Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church, Mt. Olivet Cemetery, or the donors choice.

Jeanette was born November 25, 1914 in Mankato to William and Emma (Krieg) Palmer. She was a Mankato High School graduate. Jeanette was united in marriage to Virgil Thorn on October 18, 1941 in Mankato. She was employed by a local dime store and Shari Candies of Mankato. Jeannette was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing, music and playing the organ.

Jeanette is survived by two sons, Gary (Margaret) Thorn of North Oaks, MN, Dale (Janice) Thorn of Lone Tree, CO; four grandchildren, Kristin (Jon) Stern, Karin (John) Olson, Abby Thorn, Tyler Thorn; a great-granddaughter Serena Stern and a great-grandson, Riley Stern; a sister, Betty Ness of Mankato; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Spurgeon of Mankato, Delores (Lou) Richardson of Loveland, CO; and brother-in-law, Donald Thorn of Madelia; nieces and nephews.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; husband on May 15, 2005; two brothers, Harry and John; and a sister, Lucille.
