Helen B. Scott of Mankato died Sunday, July 23, 2006 at the Lake Crystal Health Care Center in Lake Crystal, MN.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Baptist Church in Mankato. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Additional service and burial will be held in Washington, IA. Mankato Mortuary is handling local arrangements.

Helen was born to Earl and Naomi (Foster) Galloway on November 13, 1922 in Washington, IA. While as a young girl, Helen moved with her family to Garden City, KS. Helen graduated from Garden City High School and participated in 4-H and Marching Band while attending high school there.

Helen attended nurses training in Halstead, KS and got her first job as a Registered Nurse at the hospital in Washington, IA. Eventually, she moved to Chicago, IL to attend Moody Bible Institute and to work at a local hospital. Three and half years into her studies at Moody, an opening in a Presbyterian Mission Hospital in Egypt opened up and Helen went to serve the most needy. Her term ended three years later and she returned to Washington, IA where she married Robert Scott. Bob and Helen farmed in Washington until 1974 when they moved their family to Mankato, MN. Helen was an active member of Grace Baptist Church in Mankato and liked to serve others.

Her husband Robert Scott, her parents, her brother David and his son David Jr. Galloway, her brother Robert and his wife June Galloway, parents-in-law and two brothers- and sisters-in-law preceded Helen in death.

Helen is survived by her son Norman of Chesapeake, VA and son Herbert and daughter-in-law Michelle of Lake Crystal, MN; her five grandchildren Alicia, Heather, Christopher, Ethan and Megan. In addition, Helen is survived by her sister Phyllis and husband Don Morrison of Clear Lake, IA, sister Mary Shelman of Fairfield, IA, brother in-law Joe Shelman of Washington, IA, sister-in-law Margaret Scott of Welman, IA and several nieces and nephews.
