Margarett C. Harper, age 78, of Mankato died December 20, 2012, at Autumn Grace.

Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 28, 2012, at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Mankato Mortuary is handling the arrangements.

Margarett Colleen was born November 4, 1934, to Leon and Mary (White) Jorgensen in Madison, Wisconsin. Growing up she attended school and graduated from Madison and attended college in Fresno, California.

On November 30, 1952, she was united in marriage to Roland "Corky" Talkington in West Los Angeles, California. Margarett later married Arthur Ray Harper, Jr. in Tijuana, Mexico.

Margarett worked as the manager of Flame/Candlelight Nightclub in Norwalk, California, and also taught hotel and motel management courses in Fresno. In 1981 she moved to the Judson area and in 1989 to Mankato.

Margarett had a love so strong for her children and grandchildren. She was an amazing grandmother; her grandbabies were always the most important thing to her. Margarett would rock and sing to them. Her love was so big. She cared deeply for her friends and the wonderful people of Autumn Grace (Vent Unit) who took care of her for so many years. Her love for music was very great. In her younger days, Margarett would sing and perform, and that love for music is with all her family. She enjoyed knitting and making things for her family. Margarett loved animals, especially puppies. Margarett enjoyed fishing and simply loved life. She was an amazing and beautiful woman.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Marilea Gullotto of Mankato, Thomas Talkington of Newark, OH, Richard Talkington of La Habra, CA, and Michael (Kathy) Harper of Mankato; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other extended family and many friends.

Margarett was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marilea; two step brothers; and a nephew.
