Marjorie Marie (Root) Freyberg passed on to eternal life on December 17, 2012
Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4 " 7 p.m., Friday at NORTHVIEW " North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive in North Mankato, Minnesota. Visitation continues one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials are preferred to Pathstone Living or Shriners Hospital.
Marjorie was born September 5, 1929 to Elezer and Ruth (Hornseth) Root in Spring Valley, MN.
Marjorie was raised, baptized, and confirmed at Spring Valley Norwegian Lutheran Church. She graduated from Spring Valley High School and moved to Mankato where she attended Mankato Commercial College. She met the love of her life, Duane, while living in Mankato, and they were married October 17, 1948 in Spring Valley, MN.
Marjorie and Duane lived in the Mankato area while spending many winters in Florida. Early years were spent residing on Gwyn Avenue and later on Skyline. They lived on Skyline for many years and then moved out to Lake Washington where they both enjoyed the daily and seasonal changes of lake living. She and Duane enjoyed many winters at their home in Naples, Florida. Later in life Marge enjoyed her last place of residence on Apple Nook Court in Mankato. Marge and Duane enjoyed life, and together they enjoyed their family of five children.
Marjorie was a very personable and happy woman, and very supportive of Duane and their children. She was a great cook and put on many great holiday feasts. She liked to read and was an avid Viking fan. Marjorie and Duane loved to travel and visit friends around the country in their motor home. Marjorie was keenly interested in what was going on in the world and stayed informed on all current events.
Marjorie was blessed with her five surviving children; Steven (Lynette), Sandra (Jack McDonald), Sherry (Bill Kozitza) Susan (Ted Glaser) and Sheila (Tom Seigfreid); 10 grandchildren: Corey and Tyler Freyberg, Matthew and Megan McDonald, Andrea Zimmerman (Kozitza), Jonathan and Jena Kozitza, Jesse Glaser, and Sarah and Nicole Seigfreid; and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Shirley Atkinson (CA), sister, Ruth and brother James of Spring Valley, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband Duane, parents, a sister, brother, and a great grandchild.
