Irma L. Ganzel, age 102, died Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in rural Mankato with Pastor Collette Brody Pries officiating. Visitation will take place Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary in Mankato, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Decoria Cemetery in rural Mankato. The Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Irma Louise was born August 30, 1910 to George and Emma (Wirsing) Schumacher in Mankato. She was baptized and later confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church.

On May 6, 1931 she was united in marriage to Carl Ganzel at Redeemer Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with two children: Kenneth and Arlene.

Irma was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran and took great pride in raising her family. She stayed active playing bingo and was known for her baking skills, especially cinnamon rolls. Irma will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Arlene (Arthur) Coopman; daughter-in-law, Margaret Ganzel; grandchildren: Kathy (Wes) Comnick, Douglas (Ramona) Coopman, Karen (Ben) Seppmann, Darrel (Carla) Coopman, and Dennis (Laura) Coopman; 12 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; other extended family and many friends.

Irma was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; son, Kenneth; her parents; and sister, Eleanor Sargent.
