Bernice E. Wornson, age 92 of Mankato, passed away at Our Lady of Peace Home in St Paul on Thursday, December 6, 2012.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 21, 2012, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Mankato, 720 South Second St., 56001. Pastor Jay Dahlvang will officiate. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2012, at Mankato Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Mankato immediately following the service. Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Our Lady of Peace Home in St Paul.

Bernice was born on April 22, 1920, in Walnut Grove to Iver and Lena (Johnson) Pederson. She graduated from Walnut Grove High School, attended Mankato Commercial College, and worked as a legal secretary in Mankato. She married Arnold Wornson on January 11, 1947.

Bernice was a life-long member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a member of the Mankato Golf Club. She enjoyed playing golf, bridge and pfeffer, gardening, sewing, and cooking. She was quite an excellent homemaker. Always in the kitchen, she baked Norwegian treats such as lefse, flatbrod, krumkaka, and rosettes. Bernice and Arnie loved music and dancing. They were long term members of Benedict's Dance Club. They also shared a love of travel. Bernice and Arnie were often spotted biking or walking the Red Jacket Trail in West Mankato well into their eighties.

Bernice is survived by her three daughters, Nancy (Bob) Menzel of Elysian, Kathryn (Ken Murray) of Plymouth and Mary (John) O'Toole of Edina; four granddaughters, Nicole (Nick) Frost and Alyssa (Joe) Balster of Savage, Laura and Kaitlin Murray of Plymouth; three grandsons, Michael O'Toole of Chicago, Sean O'Toole of Edina and Eric Murray of Plymouth; and three great granddaughters, Nadia Frost, Sydney Balster and Sienna Balster of Savage; one brother, Gordon Pederson of Redwood Falls.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; three brothers, Myron, Lester and Darold Pederson of Walnut Grove; and a sister, Virene Baack of Tracy.
