Donna Mae Wendt, age 79, of Amboy, died on Thursday, November 29, 2012 from cancer surrounded by her family at the Mapleton Community Home.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 3 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Vernon Center with Rev. Monte Meyer officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-5 at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Vernon Center Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society, St. Peter's Lutheran Church, or the donor's choice.
Donna was born on August 5, 1933 in Worthington, MN to Emery and Minnie (Bearden) Chapman. She graduated from Lake Wilson High School in 1951 and attended the Mankato Teacher's College. On May 5, 1956 Donna was united in marriage to Lewellyn Wendt in Lake Wilson, MN. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and active in the ladies aid. She was also a member of the Mother's Club. Donna enjoyed watching the Twins and Wheel of Fortune. She loved gardening, baking, and spending time with her family, especially giggling with her sisters.
Donna is survived by her husband, Lewellyn of Amboy; children, Rhonda Dillemuth of Marion, IA, Keith Wendt of Lake Crystal, Gary (Diane) Wendt of Northfield, and Jolene (Chris) Deilke of St. Paul; four grandchildren, Austin and Kendra Wendt and Keegan and Brielle Deilke; sisters, Judy Onken, Phyllis (Fritz) Bloemendaal, and Lois Slinger; sister-in-law, Agnes Chapman; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Harold and Francis, and an infant granddaughter, Lauren Deilke.
