Robert J. "Bob" Prescher, 81, of Mapleton, departed this life on November 20, 2012.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 26, 2012, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mapleton, with Rev. Vicki Hultine officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery in Mapleton. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. on Sunday at Mankato Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to VINE Faith In Action.

Robert was born January 2, 1931, in Blue Earth, MN to Julius and Martha (Martin) Prescher. He was the 11th of 13 children. Growing up in the Mapleton area, Bob was confirmed at St John's Lutheran Church of Mapleton and graduated from Pemberton High School. He served his country with 4 years of service in the U.S. Navy where he saw the sights of the world aboard the USS Dashiell. As he crossed the equator, Bob went from a pollywog to a shellback. On October 27, 1956, he married the love of his life, Loretta E. "Lorrie" Neubert of Elysian.

Bob began designing and selling kitchen cabinets in the 1960's. He worked at the Pemberton Farmer Lumber Yard in Pemberton, MN until in 1976 when he and Lorrie started their own business, Maple Edge Building Center, Mapleton.

Bob loved being involved in his community. He was a member of and on church councils for both the St. John's Lutheran Church in St Clair and St. John's Lutheran Church of Mapleton. Bob was also on the Mapleton Planning and Zoning Commission, a member of the board of directors for the Mapleton Community Home, and he was a charter member and the second president of the SERTOMA Club of Mapleton.

Bob leaves behind a family who will miss his gentle nature and always kind and loving words. He loved spending time with his family. His special gift of a listening ear endeared him to many. Bob hardly ever forgot a name, your children's name or what year you remodeled your kitchen.

Bob leaves behind life mate of 56 years, Lorrie; 2 daughters, Julie A. (Shawn) Grave of Buffalo and Lisa D. (Matthew) Wendt of Eagan; three grandchildren who adored him, Rachel, Marcus, and Matthew Grave all of Buffalo; three loving sisters, Elinore Possin, Marian Nagel, and Shirley Eckart along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers, and 3 sisters.
