Mildred W. Butterworth, age 90, of Mankato died, Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Laurel's Edge Assisted Living, Mankato.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the Eagle Lake Church of Christ. Burial will be in Eagle Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday (TODAY) at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Thursday.

Mildred was born June 22, 1916 in Eagle Lake, Texas to Manning and Pearlee (Starling) Wilkins. She married Leslie H. Butterworth on June 3, 1936 and they lived on their farm near Eagle Lake, Minnesota for 45 years, moving into Mankato in 1981. She was active in the Eagle Lake Church of Christ, the Lakeside Extension Club, Rebekah Lodge #142, and the National Association of Rocketry. While a member of the Rebekah Lodge she was awarded the Decoration of Chivalry. Mildred had an outstanding record in civic as well as fraternal organizations.

In 1957 she became a medical assistant in the office of Dr. William Perendy retiring in 1986. She was co-founder and past president of Minnesota State Association of Podiatric Medical Assistants, past president of the National Association and Board Member Emeritus at the time of her death. In 1981 she was elected to membership in "The World's Who's Who of Women". Mildred enjoyed music, dancing and being with friends.

Mildred is survived by two sons, Harold Butterworth of Petal, Mississippi, Manning Butterworth and his wife, Chris of Dayton, Ohio; two grandsons, Scott Butterworth and his wife Chaula of Silver Spring, Maryland, Karl Butterworth of Cincinnati, Ohio; three great-granddaughters, Asha, Nalini, and Devika Butterworth; special friend, Ray Sickler; sister, Faye Schroat of San Antonio, TX; sister-in-law, Vera Butterworth of Bloomington, MN; many nieces and nephews.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leslie who died December 27, 1986; and their daughter, Mildred Louise Roche, missing since May 31, 1976; three brothers; two sisters.
