Helen Marie Fjeld, age 86, of Mankato, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at her home.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2011 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in North Mankato, with Don Sovia officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Kingdom Hall. Private burial will be held at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
Helen was born on January 2, 1925 in Mankato to Walter and Gertrude (Kroeger) Lenertz. She grew up around Mankato. Helen was united in marriage to Cyril Fjeld on April 29, 1946 in Mankato. She was a homemaker and enjoyed needlework and cooking for her family. Helen and Cyril liked to travel and camped most of the time. Some highlights of their trips were going to conventions of Jehovah's Witnesses in New York in 1953 and 1958 as well as other large conventions. Helen was a member of the Mankato Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and actively practiced her faith for 60 years.
Helen is survived by her five children, Jane (Armond) Lundholm, Don (Marilyn) Fjeld, Connie Maddy, Gordon (Wendy) Fjeld, and Gary (Lisa) Fjeld; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Delores Yancy and Shirley Bierman; also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cyril; three brothers and two sisters. She was dearly loved and will be missed greatly.
