Irene H. Koberg, 94, of Mankato, went into her eternal home in heaven April 3, 2011. She loved the Lord with all her heart, mind, soul, and strength and desired to share the good news of salvation with as many as possible.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2011at New Creation World Outreach Church at 1124 N. River Drive, North Mankato with Rev. David Laughlin officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Dunlap Cemetery in California. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Mankato Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
Irene was born to J. Fred and Wilhelmina Bergemann on October 28, 1916 in Vernon Center, MN. She married Raymond J.H. Koberg on June 30, 1936 and lived on their farm near Good Thunder, MN until moving to Downey, CA in 1964. They were blessed with four children. After leaving Downey, CA in 1976, they moved to the Sierra Nevada foothills of CA where her husband and she lovingly built their home. Irene remained there until moving back to Mankato, MN in 2001 to be nearer to her family still in this area. Irene was an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and sharing her many blessings with others. She had a very loving heart and opened her home freely to others.
Irene is survived by her son, Jerome (Jeanette) of Mankato, MN and daughter, Jeanette (Leland) of Leavenworth, WA; 17 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Frieda Kruse of Good Thunder, MN and brother, Edwin Bergemann of St. Paul, MN; plus many dear friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband Raymond; baby son, Lorin; daughter, Vera (George M.) Ward of Kings Canyon, CA; her parents; 6 brothers: Bill, Otto, Oscar, Ewald, Lorin, and Alfred Bergemann; and 3 sisters: Alma Bergemann, Agnes Rehwaldt, and Ella Rahn.
