Arnold Walter Rode, age 92, of North Mankato, formerly of Lake Crystal, died Sunday, April 3, 2011 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.

Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2011 at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in North Mankato, with Rev. Roger Knepprath officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the church on Friday. Arrangements are with Mankato Mortuary. Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Missions or The Risen Savior School.

Arnold was born on August 12, 1918 in Stillwater, OK to Ewald and Josephine (Lange) Rode. He moved with his family to a farm near Rodman, Iowa and received his education at a parochial school in Wittemore, IA. In 1936, Arnold moved with his family to the Lake Crystal area where he farmed with his father. After his fathers death, Arnold continued running the dairy farm. He was united in marriage to Pauline Milbrath Becker on September 18, 1949 in Mankato. Arnold was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in North Mankato. He enjoyed fishing, music, and spending time with his family.

Arnold is survived by his wife, Pauline; four children, Byron Rode of Lake Crystal, Cynthia Nyseth of Eau Claire, WI, Kay (Michael) Kosowsky of Juno Beach, FL, and Dawn Rode of Burnsville; four grandchildren, Joshua Rode, Angela (Jared) Taylor, Julie Nyseth, and Jill (Tim) Harder; seven great-grandchildren, Hailey and Hannah Rode, Michael, Blaine, and Aliyah Taylor, and Aiden and Alison Harder; also many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Rachel; one sister and seven brothers.
