Iva A. Marso, age 93, of Mankato died Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church, Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church. Private family burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
Iva was born September 1, 1917 to Peter and Emma (Heglund) Swenson in Kasota, MN. She graduated from Kasota High School and Mankato Commercial College. Iva was united in marriage to Carl F. "Fritz" Marso on January 19, 1948 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, North Mankato. She had been employed by Continental Can Company for many years and then as a secretary for the State of Minnesota Correction's Department, retiring after 25 years. Iva was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling with Fritz, and being with her friends and family.
Iva is survived by her daughter, Monica (Rome) Reichel of rural Madison Lake; son, Pete (Cynthia) Marso of rural Good Thunder; five grandchildren, Chris Muldoon and fianc", Ryan Sanders, Matt (Carol) Reichel, Nathan (Lindsey) Marso, Maribeth Marso, and Mitchell Marso; four step-grandchildren, Ryan (Amber) Swing, Katie Swing, Laura Swing (Andy Stueven), David Swing; eight great-grandchildren, Bailey, Lydia, and Jude Reichel, Morgan Muldoon, Breanna, Renee, Mackenzie, and Avery Marso; three step-great-grandchildren, Devon and Zoey Swing, Gage Stueven; two sisters-in-law, Ruetta Swenson of Mankato and Ellen Marso of St. Peter; and extended family.
Iva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fritz on May 26, 2000; two brothers, Ralph and Clair.
