LaRaine Harriet Larson, age 92, of Lake Crystal, died Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Oaklawn Health Care Center, Mankato.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 4, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal with Rev. Nancy Dreier, officiating. A Eastern Star Service will take place at the church. Burial will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before service at church on Friday. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
LaRaine was born March 30, 1918 along with her twin brother Don Milo in Minneapolis, MN to Milo Merton and Louise Frederica (Hiob) Spencer. She graduated from Lake Crystal High School on June 8, 1937 and on October 14, 1937 she was united in marriage to Ray H. Larson in Lake Crystal. LaRaine joined the Eastern Star in 1951 and was a worthy matron from 1959 to 1960. She loved to entertain and have dinner parties, especially at Christmas time. LaRaine's favorite times would be when the family gathered together at her home or at the cabin on Jesse Lake and later Leech Lake, where walleye and the best potato salad would be on the menu. In retirement, Ray and LaRaine wintered in Arizona for many years. She loved to shop, have great garage sales and was a fantastic cook. LaRaine was a loving mother and devoted wife. She was very helpful with her husband's business and was a loving caregiver to him when he became ill. They loved to travel, taking many trips for business or pleasure, including fishing in Canada, Alaska and trips to Hawaii. LaRaine was a kind and generous person and her memory will be cherished by many.
LaRaine is survived by her three children and their families, daughter, Roxie of Lake Crystal; son, Raymond (Mary) Larson of Sheboygan, WI, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kelly (Carl Newman) Larson of Bagley, MN, Eric (Lissa) Carlson, Christopher and Corbin Carlson of LaCrosse, WI; Morgan (Dan) Sisson Emily Sisson all of Burlington, WI; Evan (Karen) Larson of Dearburn, MI, Amelia (David) Zastava, Cole and Christian Zastava all of Whitefish Bay, WI; Eric (Monica) Thielhelm, Erica and Andres Theilhelm all of Greenbay, WI, Paul Thielhelm of Milwaukee, WI; son, Richard (Claudia) Larson of Lake Crystal, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Shannon (Mike) Juergens, Grace LaRaine and Ethan Juergens all of Amboy, Shawn Larson of Paonia, CO, Shayne Larson of Lake Crystal; four sisters-in-law, Wilma Spencer, B.J. Larson Kittleson, Norma (Marlin) Abbott all of Lake Crystal, Edith Meyer of Waite Park and many nieces and nephews.
LaRaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray on April 16, 2002; two brothers, Don (Ivadell) Spencer and Bob Spencer.
