Delores Hilma Dee Morris, 79, of Lake Crystal, died Saturday, July 22, 2006, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center in Mankato.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, at First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal, with Rev. Randal Lubbers officiating. Burial will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred to American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or to an organization of the donors choice.
Delores, the daughter of Lincoln and Helga (Williamson) Ahlstrom was born February 8, 1927, in Mankato. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1945. She was united into marriage to Vernon C. Curly Morris on March 30, 1946, at the Bethel Baptist Church in Mankato. They built their home together in Lake Crystal where they spent their married life. Delores was Lake Crystal's first "drive-in carhop" at the local root beer stand of the 1950's. She had also been employed by S.S. Kresge, Mankato Photo Shop, did day care in her home, and retired from Industrial Fabrication Services in 1995. She taught ceramics at her home studio for many years. She was known for making beautiful handmade bows. She was a former member of the Brooklyn Nite Bowling League and Eagles Auxiliary. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Lake Crystal American Legion Auxiliary Post 294. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, bowling, playing cards, gardening, playing her keyboard, and spending time at the lake.
Delores is survived by one daughter, Gloria Williams of Lake Crystal; one granddaughter and her husband, Victoria and Eric Miller of Mankato; and one awaited great-grandchild; three sisters-in-law, Ede Ahlstrom of North Mankato, Marilyn Plugge of Columbus, NE, Kathryn Fleming of Lake Crystal; sister-in-law and her husband, Doreen and Morris Mathieu of San Antonio, TX; special friends, David, Denise, Tina, Tanya, and Terry Mackrill of Mankato; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon in 1993; grandson, Mark D. Williams in 1994; son-in-law, Douglas O. Williams in 1996; three brothers, Burnett (and wife, Neta) Ahlstrom, Lloyd Ahlstrom, and Kenneth Ahlstrom; and brother-in-law, Arthur Fleming.
