Eleanor Jones

Eleanor Jones, age 90, of Arizona and formerly of Mankato, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, July 17, 2006.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2006 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Ted Hottinger, S.J. officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Mankato Mortuary with a 5 p.m. Rosary. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials are preferred to Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato, Hospice of Arizona, 2222 W Northern Avenue Suite A-100, Phoenix, AZ 85021, or to an organization of the donors choice.

Eleanor was born May 12, 1916 in Mankato to William and Margaret (Walport) Friedrichs. She worked at the Saulpaugh restaurant as a waitress and was then introduced to Leslie Jones by a friend. They were married a couple years later at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on September 23, 1940. They raised 14 children on a farm in Hungry Hollow. Her many hobbies included: her children, gardening, beehives, fishing, cake decorating, crossword puzzles, quilting, sewing, cross stitch, bingo, and playing cards with her family. She was a strong, intelligent, and spiritual woman. Most importantly, she was a devoted mother who loved her children with all of her heart. Her love of the Lord showed in her dedication to her volunteer work at Ss. Peter and Pauls Catholic Church, where she was a member.

Eleanor moved to Arizona in December 2003 and resided there until her death. She will be missed by her family and friends, who loved and respected her more than words can say.

Eleanor is survived by seven sons, Leslie (Maddie) of Milford, VA, Dennis (Pam) of Mesa, AZ, John (Sue) of Del Mar, CA, Dave of Phoenix, AZ, Tom (Julie) of Flagstaff, AZ, Sam (Pat) of Jackson, MN, Patrick of Mankato, MN; five daughters, Joan Jones of Mankato, MN, Susan Funfsinn of Mankato, MN, Laura (Robert) Young of Glendale, AZ, Rose (Tony) Pinson of Tempe, AZ, Lucy Jones of Phoenix, AZ; 31 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene (Bernadine) Friedrichs of Las Vegas, NV, Rudy Friedrichs of Inver Grove Heights, MN. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie of 47 years; two daughters, Mary and Julie; son, Eugene; two sisters and three brothers.
