Jerome A. Krengel, age 78 of rural Good Thunder died Thursday, June 29, 2006 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Funeral service will be held 1:30 pm Monday at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder with Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer Jr. officiating. Burial with military honors will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Natural Surroundings, ISJ Hospice, St. John Lutheran Church or to an organization of the donors choice.
Jerome A. Krengel was born January 7, 1928 in Mankato to Leo Chuck and Verona (Bunde) Krengel. He graduated from Good Thunder High School in 1945 and attended Hamline University and Gustavus Adolphus College. He served his country in the US Army from 1951-1953. On September 7, 1954, he was united in marriage to Rev Thrun at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Decoria Township. Jerome was a lifelong farmer in Beauford Township.
Jerome was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where he served on several church boards. He also served on the Mapleton Community Home Board and the Beauford Township Board. Jerome made 13 trips to Mexico, where he was very active with the Mexico Mission Builders. He enjoyed his work on the farm and his family.
Survivors include his wife, Rev Krengel of Good Thunder; four children and their spouses, Dawn and Dan Fandrich of Mankato, Lori and Lyndon Bartell of Good Thunder, Dana and Kim Krengel of rural Good Thunder, Quentin and Lisa Krengel of Hutchinson; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four brothers and their wives, Roger and Dixie Krengel of Mankato, Ronald and Illa Jean Krengel of Minnesota Lake, Gary and JoAnn Krengel of Mapleton, Harold and Pattie Krengel of Mapleton; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jerome was preceded in death by his parents.
