Marian Lucille Freburg, age 81, of North Mankato and formerly of Walker, died Friday, May 26, 2006 at her home in North Mankato.
A service will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, May 29, 2006 at Mankato Mortuary with Chaplain Pat Funk officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the time of service. Visitation will also be held 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday at Thomas-Dennis Funeral Home in Walker, with a 2 p.m. graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery in Walker. Immediately following the burial, there will be time to visit with the family at the American Legion in Walker.
Marian was born January 5, 1925 in Walker, Minnesota to John and Fanny Esther (Horner) Rodekuhr. Marian was a 1943 graduate of Walker High School and had attended UND-Grand Forks. On July 7, 1946, she was united in marriage to Emil Carl Freburg in Walker. They had lived in Montana and returned to Walker in the late 1940s. After retirement in the 1970s, they moved to Winter Haven, Florida. Marian moved to North Mankato in 2001.
Marian worked in the County Social Service Department prior to her 25 year employment at Ah-Gwah-Ching Hospital as an administrative assistant in medical records. She was very musically talented, including piano and self-taught accordion. She enjoyed gardening, needlework, quilting, crocheting, knitting, and sewing.
Marian is survived by daughter, Patricia Jo Newman and husband, Paul of North Mankato; son, Scott Alan Freburg and wife, Beth of Vadnais Heights; two grandchildren, Jennifer Mary Freburg and Matthew Scott Freburg; sister-in-law, Lorraine Rodekuhr of Walker; many nieces and nephews. Marian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emil; one sister and three brothers.
