Selma L. Bergervoet, age 92, of Lake Crystal, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at her residence.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lake Crystal, with Rev. John Wilmot officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at Lake Crystal Mortuary with a 4:30 p.m. prayer service and will continue one hour before service at church on Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Traverse Township, Nicollet County. Memorials can be given to an organization of the donors choice.
Selma was born on October 28, 1913 in Koekelare, Belgium. She was the daughter of August and Sidonie (Willaert) Hendrycks. Selma was united in marriage to Bernard Bergervoet on August 19, 1933 in Monroe, MI. They moved to Blue Earth County in 1942 and farmed there. In 1948, Selma and Bernard moved to a farm in Nicollet County. They retired in 1971, and moved to Vernon Center in 1978, and to Lake Crystal in 1986. Selma was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Lake Crystal. Selma was a homemaker for her family and enjoyed gardening, traveling, and her time on the farm.
Selma is survived by three sons, Jerome Bergervoet and wife, Marvel of rural St. Peter, Thomas of Jackson, and James Bergervoet and wife, Mary of St. Peter; three daughters, Joanne Schwarz and husband, Eugene of rural Vernon Center, Bernice Voosen of St. Croix, IN, and Catherine Becker and husband, Dean of rural Madelia; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Jerome Hendrycks and wife, Jenny of North Mankato; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard in 1996; one sister, Mary Siterlet and husband, Joseph; two brothers, Maurice Hendrycks and wife, Marie, Andrew Hendrycks and wife, Dorothy.
