Sister M. Josetta Bukowska, School Sister of Notre Dame, age 92, died March 12, 2006, at Good Counsel Convent, Mankato, Minnesota. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Good Counsel Chapel, with Fr. Karl Voelker, SJ, as celebrant. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Good Counsel, with Vespers in the chapel at 7:00 p.m. Visitation is also one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge.
Sister M. Josetta (Florence Bukowska) was born in Taunton, Minnesota, on April 15, 1913, to Joseph and Mary Domck Bukowski. She entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Mankato in 1930 and took First Vows in 1933. For 25 years she served as cook and in domestic work in convents in Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota, followed by several years of teaching middle grades in schools in Minnesota. In 1966, she returned to Good Counsel where she worked in community service, retiring from active ministry in 1992. She is survived by her sister, Priscilla. She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, and five brothers.
